My Background

My name is Harold and I have tutored hundreds of students in math, science and engineering over the past 25 years. I worked in the BYU Math Lab to pay my way through college where I earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a minor in mathematics. I have even published a book and software package used by several universities on numerical analysis with the C programming language.

I tutor all levels of math, from prealgebra through calculus 3 and beyond. AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Physics, and Pre-AP Precalculus are my specialties. I also do a lot of tutoring for SAT, ACT, and TAKS math.

I love teaching students that really want to learn and have set a goal, but are either behind or are not connecting with their teachers. Math can be easy and fun when you understand the key concepts. I tutor all levels of math beginning with prealgebra through calculus 3 and beyond.

My teaching style is to show multiple ways to solve the same problem, then how to verify the answer as being correct. This is the difference between a 'B' student and an 'A' student. I also believe in teaching how the covered math concepts apply to our everyday lives.

In addition to math and physics I also tutor chess and the C/C++ computer programming language.

I am setup for remote tutoring using LogMeIn, Skype, and iPhone FaceTime. I work with WyzAnt as an independent contractor to find new students to teach.

Rates and Terms of Service

Billing:
- I charge $70/hour during the school year and $60/hour during the summer.
- My fee for chess is negotiable.
- If you are not completely satisfied with any lesson, for any reason, then there is no charge.
- If you locked in at a lower rate then I bill you at that lower rate.
- In the event of a rate increase, you will receive a rate increase notification at least 2 months in advance.
- I bill in 5 minute increments.
- I do not charge for missed appointments or late fees.
- For group tutoring I charge each student half of my standard fee.
WyzAnt:

If I found you through WyzAnt then I must bill you through WyzAnt. No exceptions.
WyzAnt takes a small fee for their services, which is included in my fee.

Referrals:

If you are not through WyzAnt then I send a lesson summary email following each lesson and include billing info.
Bring the check for the previous session to me on your next tutoring visit. No hurry.

I tutor most of my students in my home office in McKinney, TX.

You Provide:

After you take a test on material I have tutored you on, I like you to tell me the grade or score you received, good or bad.
I prefer to get the mobile phone numbers for both the parent and student.
